Locations

Portrait sessions are a reflection of your personality.  They can be done in a vast array of settings, indoors or out, chosen to suit each person individually.  Most often, your home or a place that is special to you is the best place to plan a portrait session.  People are usually most confortable in their own home when the session includes newborns or young children.  It's also helpful when you're keeping a child in a familiar environment, with their own toys handy, or if they need someplace else to be when they decide their little attention spans are at an end!  In-home sessions are a great choice for maternity or glamour portraits, as they are the most convenient, comfortable and private.

Outdoor sessions are always beautiful.  Look around- Mother Nature has provided us with the most wonderful backdrops imaginable!  Outdoor sessions are great for families, seniors, and of course pets.  We happily serve the Central California Valley, and will book sittings on locations as you choose.  Outdoor portraits are a great option to really let your personality shine and to showcase your hobbies.  These sittings tend to be less formal and more relaxed, and also work well with larger groups.

Clothing

When making selections for the clothing you will wear to your sitting, keep a few tips in mind.  If there is to be more than one person in the portrait, remember to keep colors and prints on a neutral level.  You should be the focus of a portrait, not a loudly printed shirt!  While each person's outfit does not have to be identical in color and style, keeping them similar will help create a smooth, unified look.  Try to avoid sleeveless or spaghetti-strap shirts, and make sure your chothing choices fit comfortably so that they do not bind or pinch when you sit. 

Keeping an eye on the little details will make a world of difference in your finished portraits.  Snow white socks might be the picture of neatness, but when they are peeking out from below a dark pair of trousers, they become a glaring frustration.  Stray shoulder straps or chipped polish on a lady's lovely nails can make you want to chew your nails right off.  If you happen to forget, we will make every effort to do a little strategic posing to try to compensate for the unforseen oops, but a little planning will make your session a lot more fun!  The most important thing to remember is that whatever you choose, wear what makes you feel awesome!
